Say what?
We call this our Michigan salad for a reason.
Michigan is known for what they call "Coney Island" restaurants. Coney Islands are down-to-earth diners that feature coney dogs (hot dogs with chili, mustard, and onions) and Greek food (gyros and Greek salads). Kind of a random combination but totally takes me back to our beloved Michigan.
Greek salads are yummy...and healthy! They include:
Chopped Romaine lettuce
Thinly sliced Roma tomatoes
Thinly sliced cucumbers
Thinly sliced sweet red onions
Sliced canned beets
Pitted Calamari olives
and
Crumbled Feta cheese
(Each ingredient is a MUST, or else it wouldn't be Our Michigan Salad!)
The dressing is the key in this salad. I usually don't like store-bought dressings but when I discovered this Greek dressing while shopping at Walmart, I decided to give it a try. It only has 1.5 gram of saturated fat, and a little goes a long way. And by golly, it is pretty close to the real deal! Why reinvent the wheel?

Mmmm...I LOVE Greek salads...I always order them with extra beets! You can't get them down here in Texas, either! I have one when I go to Michigan in the summer whenever I can!
