Ready to read

Keeping busy in the afternoon is always a challenge at our house. With Kempton and Brenna both taking naps, Averie tends to get

bored bored bored!

I am always trying to think of activities that will keep her interest. Her favorite activity right now is of course art because she is amazingly good at it. Her second favorite is learning how to read. I was a little hesitant for her to begin reading because she still has one more year before kindergarten, but I finally gave in because she kept persisting. She never gets bored or frustrated while learning, probably a good sign that she is ready. Whenever I give her the choice, she enthusiastically says yes! Recently I got a little teary-eyed when I realized that Averie READS! I look forward to the day when I walk into her room and she is curled up to a good book.

I posted these two videos from last week mostly for grandparents, but check it out if interested!

Ok, that was AMAZING. I know I am sarcastic but this post is very serious. I honestly think I couldn't read that well in 1st grade (age 6/7). We joke around that Averie reminds me of myself as a child but this is an area we are complete opposites. Hooked on phonics worked for her! I am one proud Auntie.

Way to go Averie! Suzette, I'm so impressed. It's great that she has a love of learning, and reading! Speaking as a fellow book geek :)

Holy cow, she is doing awesome! We can't believe how smart she is, Tell her that Callie LOVES being read too, so she will have to read her books to Callie in July.
Give them all kisses, and that cute Brenna too!
