We weren't surprised at all that we were right on our feelings of our precious baby being a girl.  Even though we didn't find out, Cale and I both knew all along.  We are amazed that with all four of our children, we have had inspirations of either girl or boy.  We are now 4 for 4 for having a feeling beforehand.

Once we came upon our girl name of Kinlee, this is all we could think of. The kids were wanting a boy (especially Kempton) so it is almost like we just humored them with a boy name.  Although I love the boy name we chose (Levi) and have been trying to convince Cale of this name for the 12 years we've been married, especially when we found out Kempton was a boy.  But...oh well!

The special meaning behind Kinlee's middle name, Belen, comes from our stay in Mexico City, Mexico at an LDS high school called Benemerito.  When Cale and I were first married, we lived there for a summer.  Cale had spent a summer there before as well.  We have such fond memories of our experience there.  While there, we met a little girl by the name of Belen.  We both loved the name (it means Bethlehem in Spanish) but thought it was probably too ethnic for us white folk to name as a first name.  I am so glad we were able to use it on our third girl. It is a reminder of our time spent there, the people we met, and the work that brought us there.

I had a great labor and it seems my body is made for it.  I was already dilated to 3 cm and 80% effaced the week before delivery.  I had an advantage as my doctor is also our friend so he agreed to deliver me 10 days early.  I have good-sized babies and have never made it to my due date.  So we arrived at 7:30 am the 16th of April to get the ball rolling.  First, I was given a pill to begin uterine contractions but didn't make huge progress, didn't even feel like labor and only dilated 1 cm.  So at 2:30 pm Travis (the Dr.) broke my water.  I then labored on my own without Pitocin, got my epidural between 6-7 and had the baby at 6:19 am.  Travis and I agreed it may have been better to break my water earlier, then I'd probably have the baby by noon!   It was a beautiful experience, I also had my good friend (Debbie) the pediatrician there to take care of Kinlee.  She gave me directions to call her when I started pushing. :)  I'm not sure I can look at them the same way from now on!  Kind of a humbling experience to have people you are friends with in the delivery room with me in all my glory.  ahhhhhhh!

Kinlee's first moments in this world:

One of my favorite things about Cale is how much he loves babies, especially newborns.  When I was alone in the hospital with just the nurses, they all told me how much they noticed how comfortable and helpful my husband is.  He doesn't act nervous or scared, just very natural with our newborns.  He knows just what to do.

It seems as though we have been waiting for this moment for four years.  After having our first three in such a short period of time, we knew we would have more but needed to wait.  We are so excited the wait is over!

Mama and her four cubs.

Big brother Kempton.  He was so set on having a brother that he may or may not have shed a tear or two when he found out it was another sister.  But somehow Daddy convinced him this was a wonderful thing and I wouldn't have known he was anything but happy.  He is sooooo sweet with Kinlee, kissing her and holding her nonstop.

Big sister Brenna couldn't be happier, she is so excited to share a room with her little sister.

The best oldest sister ever!

Grandma Perriton came to help while I was in the hospital and Cale was back and forth.  She took great care of the kids and spoiled them meals, love, and attention.  We know it's a lot of work to keep everything running smoothly around here, and we are so grateful she was more than willing to help.

Our precious Kinlee...a few hours old
The nurses commented on how mild mannered she is, she rarely made a sound!  Only cried a few times.  I can sense we have a very laid back spirit on our hands...woo hoo!!!
