Bah Humbug from Michigan! Actually, other than the dismal automotive economy in the Motor City, our family has been blessed and life has been good to us this year.
There couldn’t have been a better way to start the year as we welcomed Brenna Rose into our family in January. Although life is very busy with three young children, we can’t imagine it without our “Rosie.” Her red hair, blue eyes, and tiny frame are adorable. She doesn’t want to be left out and likes to keep up with all the running, screaming, laughing, playing, and wrestling that make up our circus. She is officially into everything and keeps us up at night, but then flashes her cheesy grin and gets away with it all! She really is a sweetheart.
Kempton is two and hilarious. He takes his big brother role very seriously and loves to watch out for Brenna. Kempton is talking like crazy and for the most part we no longer need Averie as his interpreter. He follows his big sister around everywhere and loves to go bye-bye in Mommy’s new orange minivan (yes, it’s true…she is officially the minivan mom now). Kempton loves to go to nursery and the childcare at the gym, which was absolutely not the case eight months ago! His giggle is contagious and his funny personality keeps him in and out of trouble.
Averie turned four this year (September 30) and it seems like that was the fastest four years of our life. She can ride a bike without training wheels, is learning to write and spell, and is officially a better artist than her father. Averie started pre-school and loves seeing her new friends and teachers three days a week. She is impressed by everything fancy and loves to swim, play anything outside (even when it’s cold), and can be a princess even while she helps daddy use his tools. She has an amazing sense of self and is a wonderful big sister.
Suzette took a much-deserved vacation and snuck out to California for her 10-year reunion where she promptly won the award for the most kids. This was so much fun, but definitely a confirmation that there is nothing more joyous then being a wife and mother! Her responsibilities as Enrichment counselor in the Relief Society presidency for our church continue to keep her busy. She also spends her time organizing the household, selling on Ebay, decorating, exercising, and doing loads of never ending laundry.
Cale continues to work for RWD Technologies on a Chrysler contract doing training for vehicle electrical systems and diagnostics. To the relief of his wife, he traveled out of the country only once this year to Venezuela. He is a very devoted and connected daddy and sensitive husband.
We did manage to have fun this year with a few trips as a family to Bear Lake (Idaho), Utah, and North Carolina. We enjoyed the first Perriton family reunion in July, especially because it was on our turf! This year we welcomed more visitors than ever and hope this will continue. It is a blessing to have family close by and we know this is not just a coincidence.
Cale and Suzette try to stop every once in a while to take in all the craziness that comes with these three small children. We know these are the true golden years and they won’t last long. We truly have been blessed by our loving Heavenly Father this year and wish you all the best from the North Pole (or at least that is what it feels like here).
With love,
Cale, Suzette, Averie, Kempton, & Brenna
