The finality of it all...

We have anticipated AND dreaded today for a while now. We traveled as a family to the airport and dropped Cale off, watching him head off into the next phase of our life. He will begin his exciting and challenging new job tomorrow morning. As Cale left, all three of our angels were sobbing and Cale and I weren't much better off. But you know what, it is going to be great and we do not doubt the outcome.

We have been in denial for a while that this day would come. We kind of treated it like any other business trip, where Cale would be gone for a couple of weeks and then return and we would move on with the normal routine. As we drove to the airport, Cale knew better. He knew that this would be the last time he could call Michigan home.

We have truly grown to love this place and we will miss it terribly. I seriously thought about making a list of all the people we know here and writing what I have learned from each person. Cale and I have grown so much because of our experiences here with each of you.

Thinking back on the seven years spent here... we went from being young college graduates to parents of three. We've owned two homes, had four jobs between the two of us, served in three church wards, lived in three cities, met many wonderful friend and neighbors, and enjoyed living close to family. And you wonder why we are attached!

On a lighter note, We returned home from the airport to find the HUGE car-carrying semi in our street. Can you believe we decided to send our beater Nissan to Wyoming? We are almost positive it costs more to send than it's worth!

The one thing about life that never changes is that there will always be change. Fortunately this time, change is good.

Brenna helped Daddy pack. On a side note, Brenna had her 15-month appointment this week. She fell below the charts for weight and height and is only in the 18-pound range. Meaning we STILL can't turn her car seat around. The doctor reassured me that there is nothing to worry about. Her thighs, belly, and cheeks are still chubby! She's recently started squawking out of frustration... a lot (a friend referred to this as the Pterodactyl stage, so true)! But if she has your one-on-one attention, she is still as sweet as can be.

We have felt so much love and support. We were lucky enough to paaaarty it up the last couple of weekends during going away festivities with neighbors, church friends, and family.

That is so sad for you guys to have to say goodbye! When will you be joining him? Are you waiting for the house to sell? We are still trying to sell ours. We leave at the end of June, so if you're still around, we've got to try to get together one final time before you take off. I'll always follow your blog, though. I love to see those precious smiles from your darling kids.

Oh, guys. We know how you feel, as much as someone knows how anyone might be, I suppose. Dave left for Yakima in October and we didn't join until January. We both bawled like babies. I think that's okay. It means we love each other, right? Hang in there! We're so happy for your next job. Wyoming is a beautiful state. Good luck! Good luck!
